EOE/AA/M/F/D/V The University of Idaho College of Law seeks to fill a full-time (12-month appointment) faculty position. This position is contingent upon continuation of the program as currently structured, funding and job performance. This position is responsible for leading the Colleges family justice clinic. The clinic is devoted to providing free legal services in various matters to victims of domestic abuse, working with the Family Advocacy Center and Education Services, Inc. (FACES). FACES provides services in a safe, private and supportive setting for victims of abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. Services are drawn from a multi-disciplinary team, which includes medical professionals, prosecuting attorneys, legal services providers, law enforcement, victim witness coordinators and victim advocates. The faculty member will be involved in the direct legal services to clients, will supervise law students who represent those clients, and will complete all necessary grant reporting requirements. Examples of legal services and projects include obtaining protection orders for victims of domestic violence, securing financial support and property for clients in divorces, asserting custodial rights for parents, pursuing guardianship/conservatorships and addressing housing issues. The faculty member will work directly on these cases and will be responsible for running the seminar or classroom component associated with the clinic. The faculty member will also be responsible for pursuing grant funding for the clinic, and we be responsible for fulfilling all grant reporting requirements. The faculty member will be required to cover the clinics cases during the academic year breaks, and vacations must be scheduled around the requirement of maintaining effective case coverage.
The faculty member is expected to teach a 1:1 load, manage the clinic and teach other courses, according to the needs of the college and as directed by the Dean. In addition, the faculty member is expected to participate in outreach activities, attend faculty meetings, and participate in committees at the college and university level.
The position will be located at the Colleges Boise location.


Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a J.D. from an accredited school or the equivalent; a distinguished academic record; a record of or the promise of teaching excellence; at least five years of practice, clerking or teaching experience; and a demonstrated commitment to service in the law school and the community. Candidates also must be a member of a bar in good standing and eligible for admission to the Idaho State Bar as a supervising attorney within one year of the date of hire


Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience practicing family law, prior experience working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
