About the Opportunity:
Founded in 1922, the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University offers a unique model of business education that purposely blends innovative classroom learning with real-world business application. At the undergraduate level, both the BS in Business Administration and the BS in International Business programs offer students the opportunity to develop into highly motivated business leaders. Graduate students and corporate learners can choose from several different certificate and full-time and part-time MBA and MS programs designed to enable motivated professionals to accelerate their success in business. The school is committed to embedding a global mindset into all of these programs, as well as in its research and outreach activities.

Responsibilities:
The Associate Dean for Finance and Administration is the principal administrative and budget officer for the D'Amore-McKim School of Business, reporting to the Dean. This position is part of the D'Amore-McKim senior leadership team and helps formulate the strategic plan for the college. As the lead administrator for D'Amore-McKim, the Associate Dean is responsible for the oversight and implementation of all financial, HR, space, and school-specific IT projects. The Associate Dean advises the Dean in developing D'Amore-McKim's annual revenue and expense budgets, modeling multi-year scenarios. Along with a small team, they support D'Amore-McKim's strategic planning by providing analytical reports (detailing enrollment, staffing, financial and space trends/requirements) needed for decisions regarding resource allocation. The Associate Dean is responsible for the day-to-day financial and administrative operations and for monitoring financial activity. The Associate Dean must have demonstrated success in projecting financial results, managing financial targets, and mitigating business risks. The Associate Dean directs D'Amore-McKim personnel matters, including recruitment, retention, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and compensation changes. The position oversees a small team that works closely with academic and staff groups and departments to manage day-to-day HR issues, such as new hire paperwork, leaves of absences, the timely processing of visa materials, etc. They work closely with the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research to conduct parallel processes for faculty members. The Associate Dean manages the space portfolio of over 75,000 assignable square feet for D'Amore-McKim. All space requests, major moves, and capital projects are coordinated by the Associate Dean. This individual works closely with the Office of the Provost, university facilities staff, project planners, architects, and others to design and complete renovations for D'Amore-McKim. The Associate Dean works closely with others to establish and implement policies that direct the administration of areas including budget, staffing, space, information technology, and any other areas as deemed necessary by the Dean. They are also regularly involved in programmatic projects as directed by the Dean. The Associate Dean works closely with the other Associate Deans, Faculty Group Chairs, and staff to direct budgetary needs and plan new initiatives that are aligned with the academic and institutional resources and strategic goals. They work closely with the Office of the Provost, counterparts in other colleges, and represent the Dean and D'Amore-McKim to various internal and external audiences and constituents.

Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred, not required. At least 10 years of increasingly responsible leadership experience successfully managing all administrative facets of a large, multi-million dollar operation, preferably in higher education; experience with project management and resource allocation; excellent communication, negotiation, and facilitating skills; at least 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience; ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and activities; excellent verbal and written communication skills; high level of analytical skills, and experience with spreadsheets, financial databases and developing reports. Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse population of faculty, students and staff, and committed to a culture of professionalism with a customer service focus.
